RA 9646, also known as the “Real Estate Service Act of the Philippines” or the “RESA Law,” is a legislation enacted in the Philippines. It regulates the practice of real estate service practitioners to ensure the protection of the public against real estate service practitioners who do not meet professional, ethical, and technical standards.
The RESA Law establishes the Professional Regulatory Board of Real Estate Service under the supervision and control of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), which oversees and regulates real estate service practitioners. This includes real estate consultants, appraisers, assessors, brokers, and salespersons.
Among its provisions, the RESA Law mandates the registration and licensure of real estate service practitioners, as well as the creation of a Code of Ethics and Responsibilities for real estate service practitioners. It aims to professionalize the real estate industry in the Philippines and safeguard the interests of clients and the general public.
Violation of the RESA Law, such as practicing real estate service without a valid license, may result in administrative, civil, and criminal penalties.
